The possibility of seeing two girls yank each others hair out on live television or participate in a cat fight is better than watching two cats actually fight--and is actually worth the senseless brain cells murdered from the wasteland that is reality television.
But let's stop all the politically correct crap and get to the point: why are chicks such haters?
No, really, please put your answers in the comments section 'cause I'm seriously asking. And before everyone gets up in arms about how anti-feminist I am or how the media loves to put us out there packaged nicely in hourly-slotted stereotypes, generalized for the world to see, please know that I am a black woman. I also watch said shows. So, I guess I'm not really a part of the solution, but I can't help myself and apparently neither can the millions of viewers who dutifully watch and later lend attention to any gossip pertaining to the show's "stars."
Perhaps it's the inner b**** that lies in every woman. The catty ability to snip and snide each other, from spreading gossip to stealing boyfriends. From eyeing unflattering outfits to calling out tacky tumbleweaves, we are the first to offer our very opinionated points of view. Maybe it's the result of years of fighting for our right to party in a society full of guest-list-only venues.
But women hate taking responsibility for their extra-hater activities, so instead of blaming us, I think we should blame chronic angry women like NeNe Leakes and Star Jones for ruining everything. They've taken hateration to such another level that even Donald Trump has decided to cash in and put them both on the next installment of 'Celebrity Apprentice'. The gossip rags and entertainment news shows have puffed up their beef to epic standards. Obama might even do a wine summit. It's bad, real bad.

Or maybe we just hate ourselves.
Yep, I said it. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but most stereotypes have bits of truth in them. The hand waving, neck twisting, eye rolling, attitude-having black woman we find personified on such lovely gems like 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' stem reality. For whatever reason, we are really darn angry.
But the thing about being a black woman is... we're just so dope. I'm serious. We're warm shades of butterscotch and dark chocolate truffles. We come in petite and voluptuous sizes (and our men love it). We are rhythmed nations, gyrating in magical ways (hello, we invented the booty clap). We're smart as whips, funny as hell, and have single handedly carried the world on our shoulders for centuries.
So, yes, maybe we have a few gripes here and there, but the rest? It's all just nonsense crowding everyone's view, casting our own negative spotlight on our race and gender, yanking us back, reminding others that we're just crabs in a barrel.
So, in the words of another great reality television black chick, Babs (Season 2 of 'Making the Band'), "Let em fight!" Go on and let NeNe and Star battle it out. Gobble some popcorn as Omarosa and Wendy Williams gouge each other's eyes out. Go for it. But don't try to call yourself anything different, cause you're just like 'em and you do it too.
As a matter of fact, many of you are loading up your guns, preparing your ammo for the comments section, but it's okay. After all, I'm a black girl. I love beef, haters.

This is a very good article, ON TIME and true! I think the women mentioned in this article and other women, regardless to race, the world over, mostly have this TOXIC competitiveness, that just keeps them angry, along with a laundry list of UNRESOLVED issues, that tend to eat away at the true beauty of that woman, the LONGER THEY GO UNRESOLVED. I have said it for years, and I will say it now. Going from working in mostly male dominated professions, I was spoiled. I didn't realize how "good" I actually had it, until last June, I was hired into a retail situation where unfortunately, women RULE. Don't get me wrong here! I think women make great bosses, I mean, I was one, off the comments of my team members, but far too often, I have been met here with NOTHING but sneers and just a total brushing off feeling, that is cold and harsh. I smile, I speak, I do what I can to help others, yet, I am not recipricated this and it's astounding to me. My mom used to tell me, honey, some people just aren't happy and they aren't happy for you. Well, the older I get, I am learning this. Don't get me wrong, I have my days, but sometimes I think to myself, how can people be so miserable? To my sisters, LOVE life. Lord knows it's not easy for many of us, but we are above ground. LIVE LAUGH LOVE are the monikers I live by. I also believe somewhere along the way, we have been conditioned to believe that to do these things, makes us weak. I actually think the opposite. How many of use do you see walk around with grimaces? Sizing up other females? You know who you are and if you do this, STOP. There will always be someone smarter than you, prettier than you, thinner than you, and richer than you. And then what??? Hate life? I don't think so. I'm living my life like it's golden!

NeNe is just simply put "GHETTO" and should be put off the show. She indicated someone on the show was not all woman. Well, I suppose she was referring to herself. She looks like she could have had a sex change with her big hands, feet, voice, and she's just not lady like. She's a full-grown bully, and I hope someday someone puts her in her place. I suppose her husband is glad to be getting rid of her, and what other man wants her big-mouth a##.

Murder is murder, and their punishment is waiting for them at judgementday.
If they were responcible adults, they would use birth control or abstain.
Those women just happen to choose a man as selfish as them to have sex with, get pregnant then realize a baby would prevent them from living their vain and selfserving lives.

NeNe acts like she does for the camera. If NeNe and Kim didn't act like they do why would you watch thier show. People loved this show thats why it got all of the attention that it does. NeNe Leakes is the show and without her antics thier wouldn't have been a show. Its called entertainment. If I would get upset by any show and wish it off the air it would be Basketballs Wives nothing but high price call girls or prostitutes.

Good article. There are a lot of insecurites festering within our Black women. We all remember Whoopie Goldberg's one woman show where she portrayed a little Black girl with a sheet on her head immitating long flowing blond hair. We have read the studying about putting a Black doll next to a White doll and finding out little Black girls are picking the White doll as their favorite. We are seeing wigs, extension, weaves, colored contact lenses, skin lightening processes in an attempt to disown who we are. It has almost come to the point where it is rare to see a woman with her own hair (a dying phenomena). All of these are forms of self-hate. Now we have an emergence of "Thugettes." Love who you are, don't try to emulate other cultures. Be proud of your heritage. Love your fellow sistahs and brothas, pump the brakes on the drama and ignorant behavior.

I don't think reality TV is a true representation of Black women AT ALL. That's why it's hard for me to watch a lot of it because it's stereotyping in the worst way. I don't know any women in my personal life that behaves the way we see Black women on TV. Granted, there are some women out here that act a fool and are troublemakers, but for the most part, these type of women are the exception and not the rule. Reality TV takes a small segment of our population and they glorify it and make seem as if this is how Black women are, when we are not. In real life, women like Nene, Star, Basketball "Wives", etc...are usually lonely and miserable because no one (men or women) can tolerate them.

To me this is just a matter of personal insecurity and keeping your nose in other people's business. If you are an insecure person and you don't really respect and love yourself you are out to tear down everybody and everything around you. Furthermore some women spend entirely too much time worrying about what other women are doing instead of maintaining their status quo. I have learned to steer my own ship and maintain that ship. I don't care what anybody else does, or thinks. I don't put my business in the streets for other people to get into either. I have learned that there will always be a younger, firmer, smarter, and newer version of woman out there. But all I can do is push forward in my own life and maintain my business. If more women would do this the world would be a better place.

I agree %100. I grew up in a house with three sisters (I was the only boy). They all carried themselves with dignity & respect.Every fight i've witnessed over the last 5 years at a club all involved women....not one man. Television is definately a waste, but thats all hype. If you want the real answer, just listen to some kids walking home from school in certain neighborhoods. As an African-American man, it saddens me to hear how young men & women talk to & treat each other. As ususal, this starts at home. If you don't believe me, check out Youtube this week.
