When the majority of a household's financial responsibility falls on one spouse, it can create a huge strain on a marriage. Unfortunately, in this troubling economy, this has become more and more prevalent, and a great deal of women have been left pulling the weight in their marriages and families.
But is a man truly at fault for losing his job? Should he be patronized for no longer being able to support his family during poor economic times? Check out this week's episode of 'The Ring' as Rebecca and Mason debate whether it's fair to leave a man simply because he lost his job.

We are living in strange times right now in America with the ecomonic meltdown, but I still believe that if a man doesn't work then he shouldn't eat. I myself have been working since 1980 and have had a family to support since 1984 when I married my wife and promised her father I would take care of her. I always said the military was for suckers that couldn't get a job in the "Real World"...but I ate my words in 1982 when I saw how difficult it was to support just myself, and I had plans to get married in a few years, so I joined the U.S. Navy, got my degree and served for 10 years before I decided to give the "Real World" another shot. I have worked in Sales, Collections, Taught School,Customer Service, on Tow Boats, and for the State before I found Trucking in 2001 and in 2002 I hit 6 figues for the firt time in my life and have continued maintained a 6 figure up to this day. I think we get beside ourselves when we lose our jobs and won't settle for anything less than what we had, but in these tough times we have to do what is needed to Re-Position our selves to make ends meet even if you have to work 2 jobs and most of the people I know has something else going on the side for extra income...myself included. I said that to say this...give trucking a try, you might be suprised at what truckers earn per year, yeah you will be away from home a few weeks at a time but you will be providing for your family, and in about 18 months of so you will have the experiance to get a regional of local route and be home everyday.

@BlancaFlor,Employers like this abuse of power over the illegal aliens, it's reminiscant of the plantation, when the slavemasters, had their way with women.I voted for Obama for personal reasons of him being a bm and qualified to be president in my lifetime,Even though, I do not agree with his spread the wealth liberalism, for this reason. My Parents came from the deep south, with limited formal education during WWII,during the time Jim Crow was the way of life for most blacks coming to CA,who were seeking better jobs/life for their family. They worked hard paid taxes, saved money and bought a home and income property. When they died,
we inherited a substantial amount of cash/property
that taxed up under the Federal Estate laws.We paid 45% of the estate ($700000)thousand dollars,
that my parents paid taxes on during their working lives (double taxation). When I asked where does all the money go,they told me its used to support
the democrats social programs for people on welfare. I knew then democrats were taking away the wealth from hardworking people (capitalism) and giving it to people who are riding on their coat tails. This money should have went to us,the children of hard working parents who left the south picking cotton, seeking a better life.

Yes, marraige is a partnership. In most vows there is a clause that says, for better or for worse. But deeper still, why did the people get married in the first place. Many people are attracted to that big pay check and that's the only reason they are in the relationship in the first place. For some people it was what they looked like in that dress or that suit. So many people start down the track of marraige that shouldn't have gone there in the first place. When you truly love somebody everything else will work itself out. In a good relationship, if one of the partners lost their job, they would do extra around the house to make the other more relaxed when they get home. Remember that a marraige is a relationship of two people who should love and respect each other. They should be best friends and ready, willing and able to do things for each other.
People should remember that there isn't a "boss" in the relationship but two co-owners who should work together on everything. The one who knows the topic better should "lead" not command. Know your strengths and usee them to better your relationship and you'll have many anniversaries. Even if you're not wealthy from a fiancial view, you'll be rich where it counts.

Just like women expect men to "pull their weight" -Men need to do the same, and stop buying into this crap about him being the provider and breadwinner. If a woman loses her job, then just like they love to do - her azz has to go. Equality is just that - equal- and women shouldn't expect to lay up and mooch any more than a man should.

know it is cool when you are there for your man when he's down and once he gets a job he forgets who you are and where he live every payday through the weekend; now isn't that grounds for seperation?
