Drake: Guys Need Compliments, Too

Aubrey "Drake" Graham is one of the most charismatic rappers to date, thanks primarily to his laid-back demeanor, effortless charm and congenial attitude. In an October interview with Cosmopolitan, the Canadian rapper -- who has risen to become a ladies man of sorts -- brought up some very interesting points about love and relationships.

The 'Best I Ever Had' MC admitted to Cosmo that when it comes to compliments, there's nothing wrong with an ego boost every now and then from a woman. "I never mind hearing, 'You look nice tonight.' Guys put in a lot of silent effort. When I'm going on a date, I'm getting a haircut, I've got a new outfit and I'm wearing cologne. So it's nice when it's noticed."

Drizzy brings up a valid point Men need compliments just as much as women do! Despite how rugged your man appears to be on the outside, a little flattery goes a long way. Whether you're complimenting his look, or appreciating him for what he's done, making a man feel wanted can only have positive affects to a relationship.

Compliments for men may seem like a foreign concept to some women, which is why Black Voices has come up with 10 compliments any man would love to hear from his lady. Ladies, get ready to take notes!

1. "I respect your ambition/drive/direction/focus"
Men are socialized to be providers and are at their best in a relationship when they have a plan and are able to provide. Instead of nagging him for always being at work, let him know how much you appreciate that he's taking care of you and handling business.

2. "You smell really nice"
When said at the right moment, it gently reminds your man that you're attracted to him. Believe it or not, when it comes to men, less is often more.

3. "I love the way you treat me"
A lot of men are used to being in relationships in which women continue to tell them what they do wrong, yet never acknowledge the things they do right. Even if your man does something minor, give him a compliment. Taking notice of the small things will encourage him to do better.

4. 'You give such great feedback'
Truth be told, most men hate listening. Men often argue that women have the ability to go on and on, so if your man is taking the time to listen and comment, you may just have a winner. He definitely deserves to be commended.

5. "You know how to put it down" or "Wow that was good"
Considering women are masters at knowing how to fake it, it wouldn't hurt to give it up for your man when his bedroom game is on point. Stroking the sexual male ego is always a plus for any man.

6. "I trust you"
Sadly, the majority of men are continually fighting the stereotype that all men are dogs. Let your man know that you think highly of him and trust him wholeheartedly because real man knows the value of a statement like that.

7. "You're the best thing to happen to me"
I know this one may be a bit much for some women, but if it's true, let your man know! Men love being a priority, so putting them at number one will make them really feel like a winner.

8. "I like your sense of style"
This is taking the compliment "You look nice," to another level. It's a statement that says, not only do you like the way he looks, but you also appreciate his ability to put things together and how carries himself.

9. "You are sexy as hell"
Lay this one on him and watch him blush.

10. "I love being around you."
Mature men know that a mature woman's mind is beyond complex. Truth be told, when a guy is really into a woman, it scares him to think she may not be as smitten. It's important to stress that you enjoy his company as much as you hope he enjoys yours.
