Rebecca Brody and Mason Jamal are back with advice for another Black Voices reader. This time they chop up the issue of pornography and relationships. Should women think twice about watching porn with their significant others? Does it hurt a couple's sex life or help? Watch as Brody and Mason explore the pros and cons of pornography.
Unless I have completely missed something in the translation, nothing in the bulk of the so called "objectification" porn has forced the female participant into the activity other than possibly poverty. Poverty is an equal opportunity victimizer and cares nothing about gender differences. With that in mind, where does the "love coach" see fit to insert the degrading and the objectification distinction into this discussion? The question was simple and so was the answer. Is it okay to watch porn with my boyfriend/husband/significant other/mate? The answer is and should be, yes if both of you are okay with what you watch. Spitting, choking, urination or any other act depicted in the film(other than child porn)should be alright if the consenting partners want to see it. The girlfriend that objected to the viewing was introducing her religious/moral/victorian convictions on people that did not have those same concerns. In fact, the concerns could and probably do reflect an erroneous belief that sex is the most important bargaining chip in the male-female dynamic that a woman has in the relationship. If anyone would stop and just objectively think about it, the sex is the most often replaceable item in a relationship, regardless to the title the relationship holds. It is the sense of trust, the feeling of protection, the sense of companionship, the sense of potential loss or gain and concern for their partners wellbeing that causes any person to pause and contemplate the opportunity to cheat. This is why traditionally men had cheated more than women. Women almost always approached the "couple" scenario with a "marry-up" philosophy and as such brought less to the relationship in terms of assets and financial strength. When they analyzed the trade off between the temporary sexual outlet versus the cost of what they monetarily and socially stood to lose, there was no contest. But now with the advancement of womens salaries, acceptibility in the upper levels of management, advanced education and the lack of stigma associated with being older, single, childless or a single mother, the incidence of female infidelity has rocketed upward. So the entire paradigm has evolved and the fallacy is that the laws have not caught up. Porn is an adult activity. If the two partners feel comfortable, let it and them be. Peace
Pornography will most always inevitably destroy a relationship. What you’re telling your significant other is that I do not find you attractive enough to dedicate myself to you. Unless you can find another that cares as little about you as you obviously care about them prepare for a limited engagement. NOW...Some information that will actually do some good and possibly help others build some self esteem on the way. Use Google and search out... (Ex basketball player Will allens Urban Farm) I think you’ll find it nice to see SOME people doing “Really” positive things to promote humanity. Don’t fall prey to the idea there’s nothing wrong with porn!
Jamal has reported and attempted to draw attention to this type of junk before. Appears his infatuation serves only an attempt to "suck" others into his perverse world. Go get high, troll your strip clubs and wish you was good-looking enough to get a real woman you dumbass. Now go jerk off to that you old "irrelevant" creep! I'll be out looking for a real man (at church). And you wonder why things are so messed up. Puhleeease!
Doesn't porn objectify ALL involved? Who cares? Actually, the argument can be made that men are more objectified than woman in most porn movies. Men are most often depicted as no more than a penis with a guy attached. Often his face isn't even shown. It's a manufactured factoid/myth that porn somehow causes men to mistreat women in the "REAL WORLD". All sex is not love with music playing and romance as Rebecca Brody states. It's not ALWAYS supposed to be that way. There's a time to make love and a time to f**k! Porn can inspire either or both. If no one is being hurt (either end user or in production) and both parties or (all parties) are of age and willing...Go for it!
"Watching Porn" ... typical title of a BV article.
And you wonder why blacks have no intact families and the highest HIV and STD rates in America. Want to know where the lack of morality and God starts for blacks? Try examining your esteemed BV website.
If you, as an individual black person, want to really start cleaning things up for your race, you can start by turning to Church and God and away from perverted articles like this.
Blacks may have the highest rate, but we all know that you people (whites) introduced and are responsible for all diseases in the US. You people will sleep with anything and anybody...your own relatives, your own children, and animals. In the porn industry...the categories outside of the "norm" are all white even eating each others "crap" literally.
This is why diseases exist... you people are some of the most nasty, vile, people on the face of this earth.
You keep pets in your house...let them sleep in your beds, let them lick you in the face. You people are NASTY!
BillSchier, The perversion is YOU! Watching porn is hardly the "typical title for a BV article" as you put it. Obviously, as a white man you have problems in your life. But are you totally consumed in the themes of you problems 24/7? The answer is No. Black people too are able to chew gum and walk at the same time. Your history on BV is KNOWN! Now, this doesn't elevate your status at all. No more than a vandal is elevated by the number of car windows he breaks out. As a Christian, I must concede your words are true in reference to turning to God. However, my acceptance is filtered through the prism of what you are. A racial bigot. I would offer you the same advice to help you weave through the evil that has laced every comment you've made on BV in the past. Go back to your cave a suck on that!
What an ignorant post! It didn't take long for an ignorant racist to post his/her own brand of racist rhetoric against black people! you have some nerve talking about morality and the rates of disease in the black community which you have yet to proof! I am a nurse educator and if there is anything I have learned in my 22 years of teaching, is that HIV, STD's nor viewing of porn is not just limited to blacks people! STD's, and HIV are an equal opportunity diseases which no know race, gender or ethnic group, and the viewing and buying of porn is pursued by men of all ethnic groups and women of all ethnic groups in this world. It is a billion dollar business especially here in New York City alone! Lack of morality and family values are also not limited to blacks but to all people in general. Who are you to tell anyone about morality? Then you hve the nerve to talk about turning to God to clean things up for the black race?? You have some nerve mentioning God in the same breathe after your hatefilled, bigoted and racist tirade against black people! If there is anything I know, is that people like you are the most bigoted and hatefilled people in this world. You want to criticize and condemn all black people without looking at the actions of your own ethnic group and act like your own ethnic group is so pure and perfect! What a joke! You may mention God but it is obvious that you don't practice what you preach whatsoever.

When a woman uses a dildo to pleasure herself, is she lustfully objectifying men?
