"Of course it was Damien's idea to get married, but it was me that took him to Tiffany. He picked a ring, and I got on one knee and asked him to marry me." –Seanmichael
When it comes to black love, the traditional union of a man and a woman is the model to be revered. Yet, there is a segment of the black population whose love is rarely acknowledged within the broader community, but it exists nonetheless.
Seanmichael Rodgers and Damien Ramsey, a couple residing in New York City and engaged to be married this spring, is an example of the love that challenges "traditional" models.
Seanmichael and Damien have been in a committed relationship for three years. Their commitment will ultimately lead them down the aisle in March. Over the past three years, there have been several Valentine's Day memories with each one competing to top the last.
While Seanmichael's plan to celebrate the holiday with his future husband remains a secret, he did reveal that it includes "100 candles, 10 wishes, 10 promises, 10 memories and 10 reasons."
The couple make it a priority to celebrate their love throughout the year and not just on Valentine's Day. Their weekly date night on Tuesdays gives each an opportunity to escape the stress of work and focus on nurturing their relationship.Seanmichael is a producer and vocal coach, and Damien is a singer-songwriter known as Dy'Ari (pronounced diary).

"Will you marry me"? asked Seanmichael.
"Yes"! "A million times," replied Damien.

Naomi, thats the purpose of being a Christian. As a follower of the word, you are reqired to condemn anything that goes agaist God's will. If you don't condemn, then you condone, and if you condone any acts of sin, then that makes you a transgressor against God!!

I understand its not for us to judge. But what if everyone had sex with the same sex. Where would the human race be?

Yes, Naomi, we are commanded to love one another. Not just those who are convenient or easy to love, but all of God's children. I want my christian brothers and sisters to be too busy trying to love everybody (not an easy task) to worry about who's marrying whom.

A Christian is always in a position to judge sin. If you cannot judge right from wrong, then I doubt that you're a true Christian. Christians must always be able to call sin what it is. You cannot stop homosexuals from doing what they want to do, but by God you can say it's wrong.

What do you mean that a christian must not judge sin? The bible is a book of reproofs and corections
and it's our christians duty to follow it for our selves and instruct others by gods biblical standards on living righteous. We don't judge and correct by our standards, but in love that men may receive it. The term "love" does not mean the emotional milktoast gospel, that excuses ungodly behavior, but the "agape love" which is the will of God that Jesus preached forcefuly to the Jews about. You are the salt the worlds needs to preach
the bloody unadultarated gospel to all types of ungodly living. So you can't be a silent christen who has lost its effectivness to lead people to God!

ITA 100% I am a Christian also and I have seen plenty of heterosexual people in the church desecrating the sanctity of marriage. It really irks me how people can get on their moral high horse and judge people's lifestyles as if they are God. God created love and Jesus was about loving and accepting everyone. These people are human beings who should have the same rights as those of us who are straight and married. I may be straight, but I'm not narrow-minded and people need to stop using the Scriptures to spread hate and condemnation on people just trying to live.

Thank you Darian Aaron, for this story because the people whom hold unto the moralities that God set for mankind; Can use this story as a gage to understand that we are at the end of days! In that this relationship and those like it are obscure in the sight of God and to those people whom choose to live godly life style. I am well aware that the days of this world are deminishing rapidly, and it will be quite a surprise to the ungodly when their time of their obscurity suddenly stops without any notice! And they find themselves caught up in the falsehoods they have accepted and developed in thier own minds as truths! then shall their pleasures be turned in to torment; that shall not have and end in days or night but shall be and everlasting judgement! In which thy obscurites will testify against you! And all those whom live in alternative lifestyles!

It is amazing to see such specious syllogism by those selectively speaking for God under the guise that they follow the Nazarene figure. These voices are silent on so many other issues. Why does a civil society tolerate such apartheid. With the increasing numbers of divorced, single parent homes and unwed parents that God-sanctioned reverence argument has fallen short. What makes is painful is that is one of the unexamined aspects of Black on Black crime. It shows the oppressed have learned to use the tools of the oppressor all too well. There are 6 passage said to be directed toward homosexuals, those directed towards heterosexual are nearly innumerable. I applaud love and civil marriage. No where in theBV article did I see intimated an argument for religius sanctions.
