Sex sells. So it stands to reason that a magazine with Reggie Bush and his bared chest and washboard abs on its cover would be quite popular indeed. Right? Maybe -- unless the magazine is Essence, and the issue in question is its February "Black Men, Love & Relationships Issue." While the magazine's loyal readers have found little fault with the sexy photo of the running back for the New Orleans Saints, many are (angrily) questioning why editors chose to put Bush, who dates the decidedly not black Kim Kardashian, on the cover of the love and relationships issue of a magazine dedicated to black women.
Should the opponents of the magazine cover lighten up and enjoy the pictures, or does Bush have no place on the cover of Essence's love and relationships issue? Let us know below.

WHO CARES IF KIM ISN'T BLACK? honestly. for a race that is so into "equality" and "color doesn't matter" everyone is sure making a huge deal out of nothing. Reggie loves Kim. Reggie is a black man who is in love and has a relationship, therefore he belongs on the cover. give it a rest people. seriously.

I think you have it wrong. Blacks don't say "color doesn't matter" as a matter of fact, we are made way too often that it does matter...and usually not in our favor.

The issue is Black Men, Love and Relationships. It's sad that the black people still make it a race issue. I wish they would finally put that card to rest. What if he were gay? Would that really matter much too? The people in this world all need to get along, take race and religion out of the picture and all you have are human beings.

You can't really be serious.
That is SO racist.
Which from my understanding, it is perfectly OK for black people to be racist. It's OK to have a magazine dedicated to black men and women. No other race (especially white, God forbid) has one. We have BET. We do not have WET, and if we did, we would have to get rid of it because... wait for it.... it would be RACIST.
Soooo, Reggie Bush can be black and be on the cover of Essence magazine about love, but WHO he is in love with is not OK...?
The people that find this offensive are just practicing hypocrisy at the highest level.
Give it up.

I wish I had a dollar for everytime a confused racist like yourself says: "Why do black people have BET, NAACP, United Negro College Fund"? "There's no "white College Fund". If you need to ask that question then you are racist and don't have a clue. It is obvious that these organizations were and are still needed in order to even the playing field and reach out to black folks. We need BET because blacks are a minority on the major networks. Are you for real?

I have to respond to your comment about blacks having their own magazines and tv stations. We, have this because for many years blacks were seldomly on tv or in magazines. It is a little better, but the world caters to white people. I mean really look what is considered the standard of beauty in America. White People. So until race relations are better, Color will always matter. People want to pretend that everything is so color blind, but unfortunately we still have so many people that still see color. So, color does matter. I personally don't concern myself with black men dating outside their race because for every black man that does date outside the race, their are plenty who date black women. We should not look at what the media puts out there because they are only a small group. Black women why do you think you only have to date a black man??

Could have been worse, they might have put Tiger Woods on their cover.
